Well, here's what it comes down to. I did really well with my eating this week, so I must admit, when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that I was a pound up, I was a little disappointed. But then I realized there is still a lot that can be changed.
My eating went very well this week. I ate small portions, good food and I didn't cheat even one time. I think because I did so well my very first week, I expected that to last for a while. The good thing here, is that I'm still on track with my weight loss...averaging about 2lbs a week so far. Here are my new goals for this next upcoming week:
1) NO EATING LUNCH BEFORE NAPS: Because I get up so early for the Morning Show, sometimes I take naps in the afternoon. Eating lunch before them is not a good idea because then I'm just sleeping on a full stomach. Now before naps I am going to eat a piece of fruit and drink water, then have lunch when I wake up.
2) DRINK MORE WATER: This one is huge. I do drink a lot of water during the day, but not enough. This week I am going to try to drink at least 1 gallon (128 oz) of water a day.
3) EAT MORE FRUIT AND VEGGIES: I have been eating a lot of salads lately, but this past week I haven't eaten much fruit. For some reason, it never comes to mind to eat, so I am going to force it into my eating habits, along with more veggies.
4)RELIEVE STRESS: I have been pretty stressed lately...not gonna lie. With the recent passing of my cousin and other things going on around me, I have not been doing a very good job of keeping my stress level down. But this week I will be making daily goals and using some stress relief techniques such as stretching in the morning, take deep breaths when I start to wonder, focus on the positive and keep Jesus the center of everything I do.
5) EXERCISE: Last, but not least by any means. I did a very little bit this past week, but nowhere near enough. I am waiting my my Hip Hop Abs videos. I am way excited to learn to dance by the way. However, I haven't been exercising while I'm waiting for them to come. So this week, I will be exercising with crunches, jumping jacks and more frequent walking while I'm waiting for my videos to get here.
Now, I do realize that when people start diets, the weight does fluctuate a lot, so I'm excited to see what this week brings.
See you next week!

Comfort Eating Is Bad

Well, I'm happy to announce that I have lost a pound this week, despite all the not goodness of this past week. Being a girl, I really struggle with eating for comfort and when I'm bored. I haven't been bored lately, however, this week was a rough week for comfort eating.
My cousin passed away last Sunday. A pretty unexpected death and really shocked my family. He was only 33 so it was heart-breaking. But, along with sadness came the comfort eating. Now that I know how to curb it, it will make it easier in the future to deal with.
Now after all that, I am ready to kick some butt. I have another mission in mind now. Along with raising money for the station, I am even more determined to get healthy in honor of my cousin. You just wait, my next weigh in will be sweet. I'm really excited and I'm finding it easy to keep myself motivated. Let's rock and roll this mamma-jamma!

1 Week Down...Going Good
296 lbs
6 down, 94 to go

This week has been a fun start. It was really encouraging to step on the scale on Friday and see that I've lost 6lbs! Some would contest I cheated because I got the flu, but that didn't help that much. What did help was the fact that I started to eat better, more meals and started drinking more water.
I eat something warm for breakfast, like oatmeal, with an apple and then another apple around 10. I have been eating soup, salads or a sandwich for lunch around noon. I have been making sure to include salads and veggies because those are great for you. I will usually have a small snack like a piece of fruit around 3 or 4ish. Then for dinner I will have a well portioned meal with a good ration of veggies. One thing I keep in mind is STAY AWAY FROM SUGARY SWEETS!
One thing that has helped a lot is a cook book that my wonderful mom gave me for Christmas. It's called Deceptively Delicious. It's a totally sweet because it shows you how to put healthy foods like spinach in everyday foods, without being able to taste it. Let me tell ya, it's a great book.
We shall see how this next week goes, I'm starting to add exercise to the mix. I'm way excited...I feel like I'm doing the whole Rocky on the stairs thing when I step on the scale. I plan on coming out like a champ.
See ya next week!!

Welcome to Lose for the Fuse Female Edition. Dice has inspired me to put my own weight on the line and get healthy. And what better way to do that than with all of your support, while supporting the Fuse.
Like Dice, I will be checking in weekly with all the updated totals of the weight I've lost and the people that are coming along side to support me. Like him, I am looking to raise around $10,000 for the Fuse by the time this is done, with means I hope to eventually raise around $100 per pound total. But, it all starts with your dollar per pound or more. It is time I take my extra weight and use it for something good.
I've struggled with losing weight my whole life, and I have officially decided that it's time to grab it by the horns and lose it for good. After Dice started Lose For The Fuse, it really inspired me. Make sure you check in every Friday to get the weekly update.
So begins my adventure to get healthy and help support 101.7 The Fuse.
